Most glass splashbacks available (including every glass splashback that we could find on the high street) are constructed from untoughened glass. The appeal is obvious - untoughened glass splashbacks are easy to manufacture, and bright, vivid coloured glass splashbacks can be achieved with minimal effort.

However, ask any tradesmen or architect and they will inform you that for construction purposes they will only use toughened glass. Toughened glass is the industry standard for commercial and domestic applications.

A quick comparison between both materials provides startling results.

- Toughened glass is six times stronger than untoughened glass.
- Toughened glass is able to withstand temperatures in excess of three times the amount than its untoughened equivalent.
- Toughened glass is also resistant to acid and alkali attack, and is unable to be scratched. There simply is no comparison!

Colour match has always been an issue for toughened glass (especially over large surfaces where an even match is essential), whereas untoughened glass can be coloured with minimal effort.

Our colour match is now far superior to the majority of other glass splashbacks on the market.

We also print with 55T mesh to give a fine tight finish of print all the way to the edge of our glass splashbacks - Untoughened alternatives always have a slight "colourless" margin on the very edge where colour cannot be fired.

Price - Although our water based enamels are more costly, and the toughening process of the glass adds further expense, our low overheads and sheer buying power allow us to sell our glass splashbacks for typically 30% off other competitors!

Also, you may have noticed that most of our competitors glass splashbacks (clear or coloured) have a noticable green tint. This is a natural feature of standard float glass, where the iron content is of a significant amount to cause a natural green tint. However, we use Opti White Glass where possible (glass made with a very low iron content), which completely removes this tint to provide a far superior coloured glass splashback.
